This past June we spent eight days riding most of the way around Lake Champlain. We started in St Albans, Vermont and rode north to West Swanton, where we took a ferry to the island chain that runs down the middle of the lake. We rode south as far as South Hero, where we took the ferry to Plattsburgh,NY. The New York side was a more difficult ride than the Vermont side, and included Rattlesnake Mountain, problems with slipping gears and sticking brakes on Candice's bike, and some hot weather. We rode on to Fort Ticonderoga, saw the sights, and took another ferry back to Vermont. There we continued north back to the car in St Albans.
Last summer, we rode from Buffalo to Albany, NY, mostly on the Erie Canal. Michael wrote an article for the Parks and Trails New York e-newsletter. Click on the link below to see the article.
