The ride from Colville to Ione was another day in the mountains, but much tamer mountains. We only climbed to about 3300', and it was fairly gradual, both up and down. Despite the mountains, we rode about 44 miles.
We had planned to stop earlier and camp, but when we got to the area near the county line (Stevens and Pend Oreille) where there is a whole bunch of campgrounds, we found that they were dedicated to off-road vehicles and their users. Not our crowd, and the campgrounds were loud and smelly and torn up and muddy. So we continued on and arrived in Ione too late to camp and got a motel room by the water.
