Michael's etymology (sp?)
The name of the state that we are now in was anglicised to Michigan in the early 1900s. The earliest European settlers were Jewiish and named the state Michigas, a Yiddish word with two related meanings: 1. (n) a state run by teenagers with rough roads, and 2. (n) a mess, generally.
