We took today off in Republic and will spend a second night at the Prospectors' Motel. This was and still is a gold mining area and the town is preparing for their annual celebration of the gold rush this weekend. It's a small town, so we have been to most of the stores and restaurants, as well as resting up. I visited a small archeological museum and Eocene dig.
We didn't want mountain passes two days in a row, and are pacing ourselves. It was good timing, because there were thunderstorms and hail.

Are you panning for gold? Small towns are fun out that a way. How far to Sandpoint? That is near Bay View, Pond Orielle you know where we spent a few summers. We have rain today again.
